Orange County Animal Services Announces Two Major October Events

Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) has announced two upcoming fall events. The first is the shelter's annual "Furry Fall Festival" followed by its annual "Barktoberfest." Both events provide an opportunity for the community to meet available pets and become more familiar with OCAS services and programs.

Orange County Animal Services Announces Operations Change in Response to Canine Pneumovirus at Shelter

Starting Friday, September 8, Orange County Animal Services is modifying operations in response to a recent canine pneumovirus case in a shelter dog. Pneumovirus is a contagious respiratory virus with symptoms including coughing, sneezing and nasal discharge. Pneumovirus can progress to pneumonia and difficulty breathing. This is the first confirmed case of the virus at Orange County Animal Services. Several other dogs are suspected to have the virus as well, based on symptoms. The virus is not contagious to humans or cats.

Orange County Animal Services Needs Community Action

Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) currently has more than 500 animals under its umbrella of care, 329 physically at the shelter and an additional 184 in foster care. In response to the high volume of animals in the shelter's care, Animal Services is urgently requesting the community's support in several ways.

Orange County Animal Services Announces Bus Advertising Effort

Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) announced today that it has partnered with Vector Media, which handles the advertising for local bus ads, for a full wrap of a Lynx LYMMO bus that will now be cruising the downtown Orlando streets. The shelter has long partnered with advertising vendors in an effort to bring awareness to the various services and programs available, but this will be the first venture with a full bus wrap.
